A conference for all who teach physics

The First Conference for all who teach physics at Glyndŵr University was held on Thursday 14 July 2011 as part of Wrexham Science Festival.  There were 11 teachers from schools as far away as Bolton, Bury and Derbyshire and 8 PGCE students from 4 universities (Bangor, Chester, LJMU and Liverpool Hope).

The day began with a nice lunch and followed with a tour of The Virtual Physical Laboratory with Dr John Nunn from The National Physical Laboratory. Following Dr Andy Newsam’s (LJMU) introduction to the National Schools’ Observatory the participants returned to the lab to build Dragsters with Gary Williams. A few stopped for tea in the break but most were desperate to complete their launchers!

Feedback from the participants included:

“Brilliant afternoon for resources, ideas and networking.“

“Worthwhile, enjoyable, informative.”

“Got some good ideas, learnt a lot and enjoyed it.”

“It’s fun and full of useful ideas, information and resources.”

“Thanks for another great day!“

“Really good afternoon, great resources to take home.“
